If It Works So Well Then Why Can’t You Prove It

It seems that from every Bernie/ Hillary supporter that I hear from is that Socialism works, and then they point to Sweden and Denmark as the models of success for their socialist utopia. I would usually argue back well Sweden and Denmark have only been practicing socialism a short time and they are not doing as well as the United States. I would then argue that they are much smaller countries that haven’t had to have any National defense due to the United States, and the high taxes make it hard to start business or innovate. However, for the sake of this argument, I’m going to assume that these two countries are a great success and make an argument from a different angle.

First, making the bold assumption that Sweden and Denmark are better than the USA, I would argue that Sweden and Denmark are the only two successful socialistic countries out of the countless countries that failed trying to use this system. Cuba, Venezuela, Germany, China, Russia, Cambodia, North Korea, Syria, Libya, and countless others tried to instill socialism and ended up with extreme poverty, little freedom, and homicidal dictators. So one could argue that the risk/reward is not great and would say that it is analogous to placing a $1,000,000 bet with only a possibility of $5 winnings. The $5 winnings would be the United States gaining a slightly better lifestyle like Denmark and Sweden and potentially losing $1,000,000 by giving up our great country and ending up like Cuba with a big Government and extreme poverty. Also the odds of losing the $1,000,000 are much greater than winning the $5 as history has shown that a much greater number of countries failed rather than succeeded under a Socialist regime.

However, this is still not my point, for all intents and purposes let’s assume that there is a 50/50 chance of ending up like either Nazi Germany or, according to liberals, the greatest two countries the world has ever seen, Sweden and Denmark. Under the assumption that socialism has only a 50% of success and the fact that Capitalism is batting 1.000 in pulling great masses of people out of poverty, why are we so quick to assume that the new system will definitely work? Since our current system works so well, and the new system has a lower average of success, why don’t try a beta run before we try implementing it all over the nation? What I mean is why don’t democrats try and use their policies at a city level than a state level and we’ll compare to cities and states that endorsed capitalism, small Government, and free markets?

The reason the left isn’t jumping at the chance to show their systems superiority to capitalism’s is because they already have done this all over the country. Cities like Detroit and Chicago have been run by the democrats for 60 years and both cities have extreme crime and poverty. New York had extremely high violent crime before Mayor Giuliani, a republican, took office and he managed to clean up the city. The two new democratic mayors to follow have overseen a sharp incline in crime and poverty with no sign of stopping in the future. On the state level there is always the comparison of California to Texas or Arizona, Indiana compared to Illinois, or Wisconsin to Michigan all the smaller Government Governors oversee more successful states.

Since you will always hear excuses from democrats about why California or Detroit have taken such turns for the worse under democratic ideals and policies, I suggest that why don’t we test each hypothesis a little further. Instead of trying to implement socialism everywhere why don’t we separate the two systems and compare results? Have we really seen a definite example here in the United States of Socialism working or thriving better? Have we ever seen the Government run something better than the private enterprise system? It’s a very simple test that’s been run in the past, we’ll take two or more neutral areas or cities and compare over an extended period of time. Maybe some policies will work for each system and some failures for each, but we’ll never know if we just implement everything socialist right away. I believe the answer to why democrats don’t want to implement this change over time is because they know what the results will be and people will want to revert completely back to what made this country great. If they make a blanketed change at the Federal level to socialism, the citizens won’t be able to prove that capitalism works because there will be no comparisons to make. When the inevitable economy crash starts to happen they will blame it on the prior capitalism and it will take time to fix it. Soon the younger generations won’t ever remember or be able to compare how great life was under a small Government, free market, capitalism to how horrible it will be with the Government looming over every action you take.

  179. Great post. I just created a custom aspect, and it works as promised.One problem though: the i18n labels don’t work. I followed the steps you described, but in Share I see “label.kb_documentRef” instead of “KB reference”. The same goed for the Aspect selection-screen, where I see “aspect.kb_referencable”.When I make a rule to add the aspect to certain files, I get the right description. So I don’t know what’s happening.I use the latest 3.4 nightly, maybe that has something to do with it?Does 3.4 have altered message bundles compared to 3.3?

It seems to me like the K-State TCU game should be substituted for the Oregon game since it has a real chance for an upset with Klein possibly being out because of the concussion he suffered last week. This would really have huge implications if K-State lost. It would be the first step needed if Florida is to play Alabama in the National Championship game and seems more pertinent than the Oregon game this week.

  191. I am a big fan of Tyler Perry. This brother, in my opinion, is very talented. I have seen all of his plays and movies. Madea’s Family Reunion is his best work yet. For me, the attraction is that I can see some of my family and friends in everything that he does. In other words, I can relate. In closing, I think that everyone needs a “Madea” in their family. Also, people who walk around with half their bodies hanging out of their clothes for no reason, nose pickers, people who don’t use good hygiene, people who talk loudly on cell phones, etc… the list of truly offensive stuff goes on and on…Breastfeeding is not offensive or indecent. I have a unisex name, but spelled the “girl way” with a “y” and then goofy me went and did the same to my son giving him a unisex name also, Taylor.   230. Still playing Guild Wars 2. It’s been my most frequently played game to the detriment of everything else since early October at least. Also played a bit of The Walking Dead. Also, the teachers have noticed several two year olds who cannot finish a statement such as “I love my daddy because….” This is a new phenomenon. This implies a lack of back and forth conversation between children and parents. This why they think t.v. (and perhaps mobile gadgets) is why some kids are speaking later….they will all eventually catch up. I found that very interesting.
