Barrack Obama believes that if the world just shifted more left, a Utopia would emerge and everything would be wonderful. The United States, though the best country on earth, is currently not anywhere near a Utopia. Mr. Obama believes that he lack of utopia means we need more leftist polices. If progressives truly believe that the US would be better if we went further left, wouldn’t it be fair to evaluate the leftist polices already instilled here and across the world?

I can’t obviously delve into every leftist policy, so let’s take a look at the consequences of some of the current policies. The left believes that government has the ability to lift people out of poverty. In 1995 Bill Clinton rewrote the community reinvestment act, which put pressure on banks to lend to low-income neighborhoods. The banks then decided to box these low income loans with good loans and sell them off in mortgage backed securities. The Clinton administration told the banks that if these mortgage securities failed, Uncle Sam would bail them out. When the gov. decided not to bail out Lehman brothers, all the other banks realized that they possibly might receive a bail out if they failed nor the banks they were loaning to. This caused the banks to stop loaning to money to each other out of fear, and in turn lead to the greatest economic crisis since the great depression.

Let’s look at gun control. The cities in the US with the highest gun control have the highest rates of violent crime. The left’s argument is we need more gun control because the criminals in the major cities attain their weapons nearby from places where there is less gun control. However, they believe this in spite of the fact that is statistically proven, not only in South America but in Australia and England, that taking away gone only temporarily lowers gun crimes while almost immediately increasing violent crimes. Decreasing violent crimes is the whole point of taking away guns however it has never been proven to take place. The only definite outcome provided by increased gun control is it significantly enhances the possibility of a tyrannical government take over of a country. This is because the population would be able to provide little or no resistance if a dictator every decided to invade his own people. Just look at Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Rouge, Castro, Un and other dilators were able to do with an unarmed populace.

Immigration is another topic that is constantly talked about among the left. The left wants to take in more Muslim refugees into our nation. If you look at Europe, their murders, rapes, robberies, and overall violent crimes have increased tenfold all since they decided to let in this new culture without requiring them to assimilate. All of this was predicted by conservatives long before it happened.

Along with overseas immigration, the left wants to legalize any South American who manages to jump across the border. They believe that it is fine for illegals to migrate now because European’s did it in the past and it worked out then it will for them. The difference is we have trillions of dollars that support these people if they come in. When the Europeans walked off the boat, it was find food or starve. The US cannot handle that much more debt.

Welfare subsidies and taxes are a huge issue with the left because they want to increase both. They believe that if the government has more money to give to people that it will decrease poverty. They believe that getting that money from the rich who “don’t pay their fair share” is the only way. However, the welfare recipients have increased since the 1960’s exponentially, even with factoring in the increase in population. If the point was to get a population out of poverty subsidies did not provide the solution. I’m not saying that there shouldn’t be a safety net, but there should be standards that would not allow the recipients to make the net their home. People don’t realize that an increase in welfare and increase in taxes again increases government power. It allows the gov. to raise taxes which allows them to control more money and more people. It also gives more power to the evil corporations who can more easily crony capitalism with the ability to only have to bribe a small group of people who have all the power.

Regulations are something that leftist believe should be increased here in the United States on companies. It has been proven time and time again that the economy and the well-being of everyone increases whenever regulations are stripped away. Ronald Reagan most recently proved that theory when you compare his de-regulation to the over-regulation of Jimmy Carter. However, the more regulations the better is something that leftist say. The only thing regulations have helped with is, as I said before, increase the government power.

The common denominator is that most of the left’s solutions to problems plaguing the US are to give more power to the government. When Barrack Obama wants talks about being more progressive and wanting to be more left, he means he wants the federal government to have more control and authority over the US population.

There has not been one society that has been prosperous nor lasted very long with a large overbearing government as suggested by leftist. I would point to all the societies that have big governments and they always ended up with in the same two ways. One such way is mass death through a murderous tyrannical dictator such as Kim Jung Ew, Hitler, Stalin or death through starvation such as most recently Venezuela or the Chinese under Mao.

If you look at all the policies that Sanders, Clinton, and Obama advocate for you can see how they turned out in Venezuela right now. They are preaching the exact same thing as Hugo Chavez did in Venezuela. So please when looking at these polices please check how they have worked in history and how they are working around the world currently.
